Mike Armstrong has been at the helm of the Alfred State baseball program since January 2017. He is just the third coach at Alfred State since in the team was brought back to campus in 1994.

During his five seasons, the Pioneers have transitioned into membership in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. The Pioneers have qualified for the AMCC postseason twice and advanced to the AMCC Semifinals for the first time in 2021. In the last two full seasons (the team only played 20 games in 2020) the team has won 38 wins.
